Taylor Bennett is proud to support Abbey Burton in her quest to compete in the London Olympics in 2012 and win a medal. Abbey took up shooting at 16 under the tuition of her grandfather, a gamekeeper, and has risen rapidly through the ranks, making the junior GB team in her first year of competing. Abbey's first step towards her Olympic dream was when she became British Ladies Champion aged 17, and was later ranked British number 1 in 2005. In 2009 Abbey was part of the team that won gold at the European Championships and gold at the World UT, and she also won the silver medal individually at the World UT. Abbey Burton became British Ladies Champion for the third consecutive time in 2009, and in the same Championship was placed 4th overall out of 109 entries. Abbey was ranked third in the UK in 2009 and also won the first Great Britain selection shoot.
Taylor Bennett is delighted to announce that in 2010 Abbey has reached her target of shooting at the Commonwealth Games in October in Delhi, and will be competing in the World Championships in Germany this month. You can also see Abbey competing in the 2010 world cups in Mexico and Beijing.
"My ambitions were to be selected to represent Great Britain in the Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games, and I am thrilled to have achieved my first goal, as it has always been my dream to attend them. Unfortunately this is not a cheap sport and I am grateful to my family who got me started, and I thank Taylor Bennett for their help and financial support. Without my family I would never have found, let alone started a sport that I knew I was good at, and Taylor Bennett has helped me to afford to carry on and pursue my dream."
